IT Shops Struggle With ITIL
Systems Management for IT Sys Admin and Data Center Managers News
Article By Michelle Savage
April 1, 2008 — A little more than half of IT organizations in the U.S.—59 percent–—have engaged
with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), yet only 8 percent consider themselves
aligned to the ITIL framework, according to a new study released by research firm Dimension Data.
Despite the widespread adoption of ITIL processes, the survey of 100 American CIOs shows that
few organizations have achieved a true service-oriented IT focus. Charles Williams, Senior Partner
at KEDAR Information Technologies – a Dallas, TX based IT service management consulting and
training company – said one of the major problems is lack of commitment to achievable bottom-line
targets.
